PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police may still be looking for suspects related to the city’s 23rd homicide of the year, despite a teenager being arrested on Murder and Aggravated Battery charges.
25 News has obtained a redacted version of the police report into the November 7th shooting near Hanssler and Bootz near Quest Charter Academy Middle School, killing Merian Smith, 15, two days later.
Bond hearing testimony from an officer at the scene and a police report both suggested that three men were lingering near a garage before the shooting, and three men fleeing the scene afterward, but no gun was ever found.
Erick Jackson’s public defender claims while Jackson, 18, was present, there is no evidence he fired.
He’ll be arraigned December 15th.
