PEORIA, Ill. – A man you might consider one of the legends of the Peoria Rivermen is staying around at least one more year.
The Rivermen announced through the Journal Star that longtime player Alec Hagaman has been signed for a year as an associate head coach, alongside leader Jean-Guy Trudell.
Hagaman tells the paper it’s a “dream come true” — working with an established coach who has a great record. Hagaman says this will be a “test run” to see if he can be a coach.
Hagaman officially retired as a player at the end of this season, spending all but one of his nine years in hockey with the Rivermen.
The Rivermen say Trudell also got a one-year extension. That’s in addition to the one-year lease extension with the Peoria Civic Center.
