PEORIA, Ill. – A Princeville woman will get probation, for now, after pleading guilty to what ended up being one felony and several misdemeanor animal cruelty charges back in December.
Stacy Mueller, 42, received two years of probation Wednesday, but 25 News reports she’ll be sent to jail for 60 days if she fails to live up to the terms of her probation.
Mueller was arrested in May of last year, originally on dozens of animal cruelty counts, after a dozen dogs believed to be covered in flies and feces were allegedly found inside a hot shed behind her home, and another dog that had died.
She pleaded guilty in December to one felony count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, and three misdemeanor cruelty counts.
“Despite our office asking for a sentence in the Department of Corrections, the judge felt that rehabilitation was more appropriate under the circumstances, said Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos, in a news release, indicating that the judge partially cited Mueller’s lack of a criminal history.
