PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man only faces two of three charges he was arrested on after a SWAT team raided his home about a month ago.
Court records indicate Bennie Johnson, Jr., 36, pleaded not guilty at arraignment Wednesday to grand jury-filed charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The grand jury indictment came Tuesday.
Peoria Police searched Johnson’s home near Castleton and Frostwood Parkway February 14th, and claim investigators found illegal drugs and other equipment, along with an AK47 rifle and a hand gun.
A charge of Distribution of a Controlled Substance was not filed.
Johnson is scheduled to be in court for a hearing next Wednesday. He could go to trial as soon as a month from now.
