PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office is looking to try a teenager accused of firing multiple shots in South Peoria as an adult.
Peoria Police officers responded on Friday just after 1:30 A.M. after 32 shots were fired in the area of Wiswall and Madison Park Terrace.
Officers arrived and saw a stolen vehicle speeding away. The vehicle was later found in the area of Linsley and Brons, where a 17-year-old male was hiding in a nearby garage.
The state’s attorney’s office says officers reportedly found nearby a loaded gun with an extended magazine, and an auto sear to make the weapon fully automatic.
The 17-year-old was charged with Unlawful Use of Weapons on Monday, with more charges possible as the investigation continues. He will remain in the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
The state’s attorney’s office says it filed a Petition to Transfer, to try the 17-year-old as an adult.
